The Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool (MUST) should be used to identify if care home residents are at risk of malnutrition. Use MUST Calculator (click here) to easily assess the risk of malnutrition.
Once you have identified if your resident is at low, medium, or high risk of malnutrition, follow the actions listed in the MUST Management Plan (See relevant document in folder below - Treating Malnutrition).

Nutrition and Hydration Standards:
The Warwickshire Nutrition and Hydration Standards for Care Homes were developed in 2018 with the aim of promoting excellent nutrition and hydration for all people living in a Warwickshire care home. The standards are used by Warwickshire County Council Quality Assurance to establish if best practice is being delivered in care homes.

Care home staff can use the provided self-assessment tool to identify areas of strength and where improvements can be made.
Warwickshire Dietetic Department provide training to help care homes achieve these standards. Please contact the dietetic teams for further details about this training.
